The hill is beginning to bloom! Tulips have been harvested twice a day, everyday since April 1st!
The perennial beds are popping with Amsonia, Mountain Mint, Baptisia, Solomon’s Seal, Phlox and more. The Peonies that were planted back in 2018 are showing impressive root growth and many stems. I’m excited to share the Shirley Temple and Sarah Bernhardt varieties!
In other news, several of our dahlias have successfully overwintered! After reading Jennie Love’s blog I was inspired to try the no dig dahlia approach. Instructions include spreading a heavy layer of leaves and topping with clear plastic. The main goal is to keep the tubers from freezing and not getting water soaked.
This year we will host an online plant sale! The Celadon Shop has been stocked with various vegetable and flower seedlings; cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes, basil, marigolds, sunflowers and more! Plants will be available for pick up or local delivery May 1st.
